Sustainable development is not only about paper for Clampitt Paper, the Dallas, Texas (USA) paper merchant company.

Not only has the firm pursued and obtained Forest Stewardship Council's (FSC) certification, it has fully embraced the principles of becoming an environmentally conscious company According to the company, consumers enjoy purchasing from a company they feel behaves ethically and responsibly

By using certified and recycled papers to build a 'green' foundation, companies can raise awareness of their brands and improve consumers' perception of their business, believes Clampitt Paper.

The company highlighted the role that education and open communication have played in leading the way for change.

Clampitt continues to talk with suppliers to ensure a growing profile of environmentally friendly products.

At the same time, The Clampitt Creative Centre has hosted lunches and meetings about new ways for printers and designers to use FSC-certified or recycled papers.

Printers have in turn invited the company to their operations to inform their sales staff on how to sell environmentally-responsible sheets.

In Clampitt's opinion, designer education is equally important, because agencies influence the result, commanding the materials that go in to a printed piece.

The result has been an increase in FSC-specified paper orders and Clampitt Paper has become the paper merchant to turn to when searching for sustainable products, it believes.

Clampitt Paper has held meetings with its division leaders and employees to find ways of improving the company's operations because everyone can play a part at work and at home.

That initiative has not been simple to begin but the rewards for the company, its customers and the environment are imminent, added the company.
