Compose System, the developer of pre-press workflow and proofing solutions, has signed a new OEM agreement with Lucid Dream Software Under the terms of the agreement, Compose will market Lucid's I-Trap and offer it as a new optional module fully integrated with Express Workflow, Compose System's pre-press workflow

Compose will market I-Trap under its own Expresstrap brand name.

Expresstrap is raster-based and offers automated in-RIP and interactive trapping in a single package.

The interactive viewer is claimed to let users interact directly with the trapping settings and quickly see the results.

The viewer includes a page manager, an information manager, a graphic configuration tool and page preview.

Expresstrap will have its first public showing on the Compose booth at Graph Expo 2004 (Stand 4088 in the Wide Format Pavilion).

The trap-on-the-fly feature is also said to allow users to quickly preview the results of their custom settings for all of the parameters including mitre trapping, ink control behaviour, trap widths, and image and gradient trapping.

Newly released in the I-Trap viewer is the ability to re-map inks, which is a major requirement in composite and PDF workflows.

"The extensive list of workflow modules with Express Workflow is an excellent fit for our I-Trap solution", said David Lewis, president of Lucid Dream Software.

"This strategic partnership exemplifies the power and flexibility of both products.

I am delighted that we can now offer this excellent trapping solution to our customers.

I-Trap is an important addition to the ever- broadening range of options that we offer with Express Workflow," commented Tom Sit, Compose System's managing director.

Compose believes that Expresstrap is ideal for all commercial printers - simplifying workflow, increasing productivity and achieving trapping at a competitive price.

The pilot installation is a large B1 and B2 commercial printer in the United Kingdom specializing in high quality packaging production.
