Compose System has increased support for Dainippon Screen CTP devices in the form of the new Platerite 8300S and Platerite 8300E thermal CTP recorders.

Compose Makes Music In OEM Deal With Highwater
Compose System, the developer of prepress workflow and proofing systems, has today announced the signing of an OEM agreement for its workflow technology with Highwater Designs.
The new devices join a list of Compose supported Dainippon Screen devices, including the Platerite 8000, 8000II, 8600 and 8800 models.
Compose System said that it has 15 years' experience in designing interfaces between its RIP systems and OEM inkjet plotters, imagesetters and platesetters from all major manufacturers.
Through technical co-operation with many vendors, Compose added that it has fine-tuned its drivers, helping to establish a customer base with over 12,000 Express RIP installations worldwide.
The latest generation of the Express Harlequin RIP is the Genesis (version 7.1) which is said to provide new features for print operations of all sizes including native compatibility with PDF 1.6, font emulation capability for time critical applications, such as newspapers and print-on-demand and in-RIP imposition for two-up and four-up conventional printing and digital print.
At the same time, it supports PDF/X-1a:2003 and PDF/X-3:2003 as well as the JDF 1.2 specification, together with a claimed performance increase to non-colour managed and colour managed set-ups.
The Express RIP is said to accept PostScript level 1,2 and 3, PDF 1.2/1.3 and 1.4, 1.5 file formats, as well as 1.6, PDF/X1a and PDF/X3, TIFF, 1 Bit Tiff, 8 Bit Tiff, JPEG, GIF, PCL, DCS and DCS2, JBIG2.
Output to 1 Bit Tiff is also a standard feature with the Express RIP, Tiff-IT in and out is available as an optional plug-in.
Compose added that version 7 of the Express RIP now gives users the opportunity to evaluate additional Harlequin features, such as trapping, colour management, screening, CIP 3 and additional in and out and output options.
Those features are free to for a 45-day trial period offering evaluation without limitation, said the company.
