Colour Confidence, the independent colour management specialists, are to distribute GretagMacbeth's Profilemaker 5 Packaging.

Profilemaker 5 Packaging is available immediately from Colour Confidence and addresses the growing demands of packaging companies that require accurate, predictable colour reproduction within the multicolour imaging workflow.

Prior to the introduction of Profilemaker 5 Packaging, managing colour in a multicolour workflow involved creating new profiles for each individual combination of colours being printed.

With the patent-pending GretagMacbeth Generic Output Profiler technology, (included with Profilemaker 5 Packaging) users can now automatically regenerate a new profile when one or more spot colours change without the need to recreate test charts, plates or cylinders, said Colour Confidence.

Profilemaker 5 Packaging is said to provide reliable colour communication, reduced time to market, and significantly decreased costs.

It is also claimed to enable packaging and textile producers to effectively manage n-colour imaging workflows, utilising flexo, gravure, offset or inkjet processes.

Once users have created a profile in Profilemaker5 Packaging, they may edit and soft proof their images in Photoshop and create a multi-colour separation in one step, eliminating the previously tedious manual process.

Profilemaker 5 Packaging is available as a stand-alone product, or bundled with GretagMacbeth colour measurement instruments and all Profilemaker 5 Packaging products include two days of on-site training delivered by a GretagMacbeth accredited, Colour Confidence application specialist.

Profilemaker 5 provides ICC multicolor separations, softproofing and hardproofing.

The n-colour ICC profile generation characterises 10-channel n-colour processes with or without CMYK.

Geoffrey Clements, the managing director of Colour Confidence, said: "The addition of Profilemaker 5 Packaging to our product range is a natural progression for Colour Confidence.

We have been providing first class colour management products across a broad range of disciplines and we are delighted to be able to bring our expertise to the packaging industry.

We can expect that Profilemaker 5 Packaging will become the application of choice for those in the packaging industry concerned about getting their colour right.".
