HP Appoints Colour Confidence Digital Press Agent
Colour Confidence has been appointed by HP as an official partner for the new Z series printers.
Colour Confidence has been appointed by HP as an official partner for the new Z series printers.
Coming in eight-ink and 12-ink formats, the printers are designed to provide colour accuracy and consistency and are claimed to be the first printers to come with an embedded spectrophotometer.
The Z2100, which is available immediately, and the Z3100, which is expected to be available in mid-November, have been launched today at the Photokina exhibition.
Simon Prais, technical director at Colour Confidence, said: "This is a revolutionary development for photographic printing.
The in-built spectrophotometer recognises the importance of printer profiling for all users and will provide them with real confidence in their colour accuracy.
The technological advances in this printer will negate the need for inaccurate custom profiles and expensive remote profiling services." The HP Designjet Z2100 printer is said to be suitable for graphic designers, fine artists and photographers that need to create high-quality prints and concept proofs with accurate and consistent colours.
The eight-ink system comes with three black inks, the ability to print with or without borders, a preview function that is claimed to eliminate the cost of trial and error and an embedded spectrophotometer that will automatically generate custom ICC profiles for preferred paper in less than 20 minutes, said Colour Confidence.
The Z2100 24-inch photo printer is available for GBP2,190 (EUR3,200) excluding VAT and the 44-inch version is available for GBP4,510 (EUR 6,600).
Also available with the 24-inch models is the upgrade to the GP range.
That includes a HP colourimeter and more advanced software for controlling the in-built spectrophotometer.
The bundle will mean greater colour control for the more discerning user and costs an additional GBP540 (EUR800).
Colour Confidence believes that being selected as a partner for the new printers is recognition of the added value that the company can provide to its customers.
The company added that it can apply its expertise in day-to-day sales of all colour management equipment, and combine it with independent advice on a range of colour management systems.
With that base of knowledge, the new printers fit well in to its product range and provide customers with the opportunity to source a complete workflow from one place, added the company.
Suzy Dorsett, business development manager for large format printing at HP, said: "Colour Confidence provides us with the best route to market for those customers whose colour is absolutely paramount.
Their expertise means that they have an in-depth understanding of the technology in the printer and are able to add significant value to the purchase with their wide-ranging experience." For an opportunity to see the new products in action, and to hear a seminar on colour management, Colour Confidence and Hewlett Packard will be running a series of seminar and demonstration days during November.
