The judges' citation read: "A design that truly combines the needs of the customer in use with the requirement for safety and security.
The tablets are vacuum packed and held in an internal sleeve that can be removed using the perforated edge so that the part containing the tablets can easily be carried in a pocket or handbag." It continued: "Clear instructions showed how it could be used and the design also included a means for recording when the tablets were taken to ensure that a dose was not forgotten.
Ideal functionality well thought through was what appealed to the judges." The carton board grade was GC2 Excellent 250gsm.
The graphic designers were Werner Griesinger and Armin Leifick of Ratiopharm and the structural designers were Meinrad Albrecht of Ratiopharm and Steffen Laich of Faller.
There are 10 member companies in Copapharm Europe, including Faller (Germany), Packart and Rotanotice (France), Palladio and Zannini (Italy), Goldprint (Belgium), Storey Evans (Great Britain), and Icesa, Pans and Cartonplex (Spain).
They operate from a total of 19 manufacturing sites across Europe and have a collective total capacity of 6.5 billion folding carton units, 4.6 billion leaflet units and 3.2 billion label units.
