The Colourlink network of digital imaging bureaux has chosen to install the new HP Designjet 4000 printer at 20 of its 26 UK sites.

The Colourlink network of digital imaging bureaux has chosen to install the new HP Designjet 4000 printer at 20 of its 26 UK sites.

The machines were chosen for their speed and outstanding print quality, said the company, which added that the Colourlink members are replacing HP1000 series machines with the Designjet 4000 range to increase capacity, image quality and turn-around time.

The company will also act as a reseller for the product and supply the printers to customers on order.

Tony Barnett, the managing director of John E Wright in Nottingham and a director of Colourlink, commented: "The HP Designjet 4000 is ideal for producing architectural drawings, rendered images or GIS/mapping plans.

As a result we have had a lot of interest from the architectural, engineering and GIS sectors, which is now translating in to strong sales growth.

The trade-in programme is especially attractive at the moment, and prospective clients should seriously consider this ground-breaking machine." Whilst monochrome line drawings continue to be the main output, demand for high-quality colour images for renderings, photographs and presentations is continually growing.

Large-format print customers are using 3D rendered images to sell their concepts and designs and are finding it to be a competitive advantage in selling ideas, according to Colourlink.

The HP Designjet 4000 offers double the output speed compared to the previous model, thanks to HP's double swath Technology (two long life printheads per colour), fast, simultaneous processing and printing, and driverless multi-file printing, said the company.

With a claimed capacity of up to 100 A1 sheets per hour, the machine offers high-speed printing with rich, high-quality colour images and crisp, sharp mono lines.

Mark Ellis, the UK and Ireland Designjet business manager at Hewlett Packard, said: "The Colourlink bureaux are extremely forward-thinking.

They have recognised that many of their own customers would benefit from owning the very same HP Designjets that Colourlink uses.

That demonstrates their customer-focused attitude to business." Colourlink believes that its approach gives customers a load-balanced capability, where they can use Colourlink bureaux for any work they do not have capacity for, with confidence in the consistency of the job, knowing that Colourlink has fully tested the Designjet systems under production conditions.

In addition, Colourlink said that it can supply HP ink and media quickly and competitively from the large stock held for its own bureau.

Mark Ellis continued: "By investing in the HP4000, Colourlink members have made a tangible commitment to ensuring continued competitive advantage for its customers.

HP is especially pleased that, even though the Colourlink network has recently attracted members with existing new equipment, having tested the HP4000 in a production environment, they have made this additional investment in their customers' interests.".
