Crossflight has launched its new Global Collateral Management service to help ensure that brochures, CDs, promotional items and other material are available in the right quantities at the right time.

Crossflight has launched its new Global Collateral Management service to help ensure that brochures, CDs, promotional items and other material are available in the right quantities and at the right time The company believes that agencies will find the service particularly useful for efficiently supplying branches, franchises, partners, resellers, retailers and customers

Crossflight's Global Collateral Management service is claimed to provide a virtual warehousing service for sales management, marketers and customer service operations.

The new service, developed in collaboration with a selection of international customers, works in one of two ways.

In the first configuration, branches, offices or intermediaries file on-line despatch requests with the Crossflight service to have material delivered to the customer.

In the second configuration, the branch, or reseller themselves, request material deliveries when stocks are getting low.

Both incorporate track and trace systems on deliveries, along with stock management triggers.

In testing with development clients, the service has delivered immediate return on investment in terms of the creation of free space and staff time, whilst also enabling reprint savings and avoiding the risk of lost customers through lack of material.

The greatest benefit has been felt by international companies serving a network of locations around the world, claimed Crossflight.

Crossflight added that it is very important that companies and customers are not bereft of promotional material but at the same time it is equally important that they do not have too much.

The latter would just lead to a waste of material, which is costly and is incompatible with the increasing number of environmental regulations and targets.

And, with digital print, Crossflight believes that just-in-time supply is more realisable.

The provision of just in time print means there is less need to produce materials in bulk, especially when the product ranges and promotional offers change regularly and the marketing material is at risk of going out of date quickly.

Just-in-time logistics supported by just-in-time print can save on money, time and valuable retail space as well as helping companies become a little more environmentally responsible, added the company.

Crossflight commented that research has shown that in many markets, if printed material is not available, then sales are lost.

A study with a number of organisations in the automotive, legal, professional services, IT, business equipment and financial services sectors revealed that such loss of sales can represent considerable sums.

Richard Stoughton, managing director of Crossflight, commented: "As ever, the best new services arise from a real client demand.

Global Collateral Management is no exception, having been born out of work with a dozen or so of our major customers.

And the fact that shipment ordering is web-based means that deployment is very rapid and adding new users is virtually instantaneous." He added: "The savings that companies can realise in terms of storage, staff productivity and print efficiency alone are compelling.

But the real advantage comes from just-in-time collateral availability to ensure that no gaps occur and sales support is comprehensive.".
