Epson Hardware Helps Colourgen Sales Climb 10%
Colourgen, the UK's leading distributor of large format digital printing and audio-visual systems, has announced a 10% increase in sales revenues to £11 million for the year ending June 2003.
Colourgen, the distributor of large format digital printing and audio-visual systems, has announced a 10% increase in sales revenues to £11 million for the year ending June 2003.
The company said that the continued popularity of Epson hardware and consumables, as well as the formation of the audio visual division, have been the main reasons behind its growth.
Jeff Biggs, Colourgen's managing director, commented: "In a difficult trading year for many companies in this industry, we have managed to continue our overall growth.
Our focus, as always, is to deliver the industry's leading products, backed by first class product support, maintenance, engineering, training and technical support." He said that the company had also introduced what it believes is the market's fastest order fulfilment service for consumables and printers.
Colourgen has also sought to improve its distribution through hiring logistics company Bishopsgate.
"With the help of Bishopsgate, we can now fulfil a hardware order placed before 5.00pm by 9.00am the next day," added Biggs.
New printers that have helped fuel increasing sales have included a new range of Epson 7600, 9600 and 10600 Stylus Pro printers for the photo reproduction, fine art and proofing markets.
Colourgen has bundled these with the Colorgate Photo RIP for the high street photolab market.
More recently, Encad's Vinyljet 36-inch, 600 dpi full colour printer that enables aqueous ink printing on uncoated and untreated vinyl media has attracted interest.
The company also sees Colourgen's audio-visual development as a logical progression.
"We believe that electronic signage and displays are a natural progression.
We have the knowledge and experience of the sign and display industry and audio visual is a logical extension to this," said Biggs.
He added that the company had established distribution agreements with leading companies such as LGE, Mitsubishi, NEC, Sharp, Sanyo and Displaymate Touchscreens.
Many of Colourgen's printing industry resellers are reported to be already taking on those products and delivering both printed and electronic displays.
Jeff Biggs continued: "We expect some exciting new products to come from many of our printer manufacturer partners that will continue to serve existing markets as well as create opportunities for further expansion into new areas.
We are also expecting solid growth for the audio visual division.".
