New Printer Sets Pace For Outdoor Printed Media
Maidenhead (UK) based Enigma Digital has bought a Seiko I Infotech Colorpainter 64S large format digital printer with Shiraz RIP from Colourgen reseller Applied Image Technology.
The machine is said to offer 720dpi printing at 16 square metres per hour (approximately 2-5 times faster than competing models) directly on to uncoated media such as vinyl and banner stock, said Colourgen.
The printer uses a new type of ink with fewer solvents and has outdoor durability for up to three years.
Jeff Biggs, Colourgen's managing director said: "Despite the rapid increase in the use of solvent-based inkjet printers to produce outdoor signs, vehicle graphics and banners, current solvent inkjet printers have not been able to deliver long-term outdoor durability, vivid colours, and high speed production in a single low-cost printer.
I believe it is a printer that will generate huge interest in the industry as it can deliver the performance of systems that cost considerably more." Eiichi Ishihama, president of Seiko I Infotech, said: "In our initial market testing dealers around the world were extremely excited about the colour and durability of the output." The new ink set was specifically designed and matched to the new industrial piezo print heads to provide durability and reliability.
