Colourgen has announced that four companies have signed up to be first level resellers for the new Seiko I Infotech Colorpainter 64S printer.

The UK distributor of large format digital printing systems is the exclusive supplier of the new machine.

Applied Image Technologies, City and West End Solutions, Genix, and Grafityp are now authorised to sell the product throughout the UK and between them have already received more than 30 new orders from end user customers said Colourgen.

Jeff Biggs, managing director of Colourgen, commented: "We are very confident that the new Seiko Colorpainter will be a big success because it fills a unique space in the marketplace.

Not only can it can deliver outdoor durability for several years and fantastically vivid colours, but at an incredible speed - there is a tremendous amount of interest in this printer." He added that the companies that have signed as resellers in the UK are all specialists in selling similar types of products and have already built significant customer bases.

The Colorpainter 64S is claimed to offer true 720dpi printing at 16 square metres per hour (approximately two-five times faster than competing models) directly on to uncoated media such as vinyl and banner stock.

The printer utilises a new type of ink featuring an expanded gamut and less solvents claimed Colourgen.

Steve Chappell, the sales director of Genix Systems Sales said: "Productivity and quality are the prime demands from our customer base and the Seiko is just stunning on both counts.

The new inks have a huge colour gamut and look like the very best dye based inks but with an outdoor life of three years." Roger Ward, managing director of Applied Image Technology commented: "We have been taking orders since Sign UK and have several more demos booked at our London showroom." The Seiko Colorpainter 64S is available immediately and is priced at ?23,000.
