Maidenhead (UK) based Enigma Digital has bought a Seiko I Infotech Colorpainter 64S large format digital printer with Shiraz RIP from Colourgen reseller Applied Image Technology.

Maidenhead (UK) based Enigma Digital has bought a Seiko I Infotech Colorpainter 64S large format digital printer with Shiraz RIP from Colourgen reseller Applied Image Technology The new printer has been taken on to deliver high quality outdoor signage for Enigma's customers

Steve Brown, managing director of Enigma Digital, commented: "At its price, nothing can touch the Colorpainter for speed and quality.

We saw the printer in operation at Colourgen and also at Sign UK and quickly decided that it could do a very useful job for us.

Since taking it on, we have already delivered a number of really big outdoor jobs, including racecourse graphics for a number of top courses." Brown also pointed to the cost savings the Colorpainter is generating in terms of media.

"Because of the high levels of competition in this industry, it is vital that we find ways to cut costs while maintaining quality and service.

With the new printer we can achieve this by saving on the cost of coated media and laminates and then passing this onto our customers.

The quality of the solvent-based Seiko has now reached a level where it is more than acceptable - particularly with the three year outdoor warranty," added Brown.

"We can really do a lot with this printer, it is very versatile.

It can print large outdoor banners for long distance viewing at 360dpi at very fast speeds, yet it also has a really high colour gamut to deliver higher quality 720dpi images for much closer viewing," he continued.

He believes that the printer gives Enigma an important edge in its market and allows it to meet the demands of its customers in terms of versatility, cost and quality.

The Colorpainter 64S is said to offer 720dpi printing at 16 square metres per hour directly on to uncoated media such as vinyl and banner stock.

The printer utilises a new type of ink featuring an expanded gamut and less solvents and produces true outdoor durability for up to three years, claimed Colourgen.

The Seiko I Infotech ColorPainter 64S is available immediately from authorised Colourgen resellers.
