Fine debut for image art
Western Computer has installed the UK's first Stylus Pro 9600 large format printer for fine art reproduction.
Based in Yateley, Hampshire (UK), the company was formed more than 20 years ago by current managing director and signmaker, Martyn Love.
Steve Toft, Camberley Signs' digital print manager, explained: "For perfume companies in particular, quality is the key issue.
They demand rich, vibrant and accurate colours to maximise the impact of their in-store displays.
We have built up our business with these companies through our ability to consistently meet these demands." Until recently, Camberley Signs had been using a Gretag Arizona for outdoor work, but were becoming increasingly frustrated.
"The Arizona required an awful lot of maintenance to ensure adequate output.
It was also very much limited to producing prints that were only suitable for long-distance viewing," said Toft.
He added: "When we heard about the Colorpainter 64S and saw some of the sample prints it could produce we couldn't believe how good it was.
The quality of the images and vibrancy of colour was excellent - as good, if not better, than the HP printers we use for interior work.
The printer also appeared better and faster than the JV3 we were considering." Toft continued: "The colour gamut is huge and we are generating prints that will meet the high expectations of colour matching and vibrancy that our customers expect - both for indoor and outdoor work.
Also, the maintenance required for the printer is very low and, so far, it has been completely reliable." Camberley Signs offers a complete range of sign and display services and has made heavy investment in industry-leading technology.
Camberley Sign's digital imaging division provides a range of indoor and outdoor displays for a number of companies and industries, including many of the leading perfume and fragrance companies.
Colourgen said that the Colorpainter 64S is available exclusively from authorised Colourgen resellers.
It is said to offer true 720 dotes per inch (dpi) printing at 16 square metres per hour (at a claimed speed up to twice or five times faster than competing models) directly on to uncoated media such as vinyl and banner stock.
