Colourgen has announced the immediate UK availability of the latest version of Colorgate's Filmgate 4 series of RIPs.

Colourgen has announced the immediate UK availability of the latest version of Colorgate's Filmgate 4 series of RIPs.

Filmgate 4 is said to allow print providers to produce their own film for colour separation on a standard inkjet printer.

That saves cost and time by removing the need to outsource film production to third parties, said the company.

The new version of Filmgate 4 is said to offer higher productivity and cost-saving potential for companies working with digital film production.

Allowing in-house production of films means that the high costs of external film purchases are eliminated.

In addition, screen printing films can be generated when and where they are really needed.

T he creation of cost-effective in-house film production allows screen printers or print service providers to react quickly to last minute customer requirements without having to rely on outside providers, said Colourgen.

Melanie Enser, Colourgen's product marketing manager, commented: "Just by eliminating the external costs of film production, Filmgate 4 pays for itself very quickly.

Combining appropriate inkjet printers, such as the Epson Stylus Pro range, with Filmgate 4 converts these printers in to high end imagesetters.

Users gain significant benefits, including cost-efficient production and fast response times, as well as chemical-free production that allows film generation in daylight conditions." Filmgate 4 is said to have a user-friendly interface to ensure clear and reliable operation.

It provides pre-defined workflow and job settings, even for users without pre-press experience, making the automatic production of high-quality screen films a straightforward task, even for inexperienced users, claimed the company.

In addition to film creation, the printers can be used to produce posters, proofing, full colour work and other typical large format printing applications.

Filmgate 4 is available immediately and exclusively from Colourgen authorised resellers with end user prices starting from GBP1,350, excluding VAT.
