However, we were becoming increasingly frustrated with our previous inkjet printer because output was slow and the inks had no resistance to water.
As soon as any rain came in to contact with the prints the image would smudge.
Builders and particularly bricklayers, who needed to read off dimensions and detailed information were liable to misinterpret details." RDA carried out a review of suitable products on the market and was introduced to the Seiko II Teriostar by The CAD Warehouse.
The Teriostar provides a claimed print speed of 3.4 A0 size prints per minute at 600 dots per inch (dpi) to a maximum length of 10 metres.
It also features a two-roll drawer system, which supports multiple sized rolls.
Colourgen said that users can choose between the automatic drawer selector or sheet feed to load media.
The LP-1010 MF has a built-in CIS scanner with a true optical resolution of 600dpi, which can be adjusted to three different user settings (200dpi, 400dpi and 600dpi), said the company.
Equipped with a display, users can sort, collate, scan-to-file then print, copy and scale images (from 25 per - 400 per cent with retained quality) directly from the control panel, it is claimed.
Jim Rowland commented: "The Teriostar promises high quality output, faster printing speeds, better workflow management and also, critically, the toner gives the output a certain level of water-resistance.
The CAD Warehouse installed the printer last September and it has already had a dramatic impact on our business." He added: "We can now print multiple copies of plans from different users very easily, which saves us lots of administration time and allows us to be more flexible for our customers.
We are also able to provide high quality prints that can be used on-site without worrying about the weather." And he continued: "In addition, we have also been really impressed with the scanning capabilities of the Teriostar.
We have many printed plans from older projects, which we have been able to scan in to our system.
We can also use materials and photography provided by our customers to scan and integrate in to our own plans." Rowland said that his company is delighted with the Teriostar because it is very easy to use, requires very little training to get going and has been very reliable.
He explained: "We are aware that there is plenty of functionality that we are not yet using and we are working towards increasing how we utilise its capabilities.
Overall, the machine is saving a lot of time for our office assistants and engineers.
It is also providing high quality finished prints that are impressive to our customers and useful to our on-site workers.".
