The MAC and PC-compatible RIP is designed to work with lower cost, high image quality inkjet printers up to 17" wide, such as the Epson Stylus Pro R2400, 3800 and 4800 machines, said Colourgen.

It provides enhanced image handling capabilities provided by its RIP software.

Melanie Enser, Colourgen's product marketing manager, commented: "We believe this is the only RIP currently available for the Epson SP-3800.

It is claimed to turn a number of popular desktop printers in to powerful, yet cost-effective digital proofing systems.

Colourgen added that the software also allows full control over digital proofing needs, saving time and money.

The software does not require significant network configuration and the support of measuring devices and has minimal set-up time.

The EFI Designer Edition M is provided as a hybrid version, running on Mac OS X, as well as on Windows.

It is available from authorised Colourgen resellers.
