Welsh Print House Joins Environment Agency Roster
The UK's Environment Agency has selected Welsh printer Colourprint UK, which has already produced work for the agency as one of its pan-European preferred print suppliers.
Colourprint UK has been responsible for printing reports and accounts, corporate plans, annual reviews and national campaigns for the Environment Agency.
The selection process, which involved 60 printers, took six months before the results were announced and six printing companies will now be given work on a roster basis.
Colourprint UK said it was selected because of its quality standards, service levels and it abilty to adhere to environmental standards.
The Environment Agency was also understood to be pleased with the print results Colourprint UK has achieved on the Cyclus and Revive recycled paper products (the Environment Agency's specified recycled materials).
Colourprint UK managing director, Karl Long, said: "This is an extremely important contract win and we are delighted to have been chosen as one of the preferred suppliers." And another company director, Steve Lacey, who has been handling the Environment Agency account for a number of years, added: "We have worked closely with the Environment Agency to achieve the best results on its work.
The agency is an extremely important client, which we hope has been demonstrated by our inclusion on the roster." Lacey said that the work Colourprint had produced for the agency in the past had mainly been through external design agencies.
But Lacey explained: "Due to the win we will now be able to produce work for the head office design team and also any of the agency's regional offices that may wish to use our services." The Environment Agency's design manager, Dawn Fitzgerald, said: "The Environment Agency is naturally very careful who we contract our work to.
It is, after all the taxpayers' money.
We are also very conscience of our carbon footprint and what effect our printed documents have on our environment.
As a result, we look to our suppliers to help us make the right decision in what and how we print." She continued: "Getting the right printers on board is essential.
We go through OJEU, which, although it is a lengthy process, is very thorough.
We also visit all short listed printers so that we can get a feel for how they actually run their businesses.
In this recent tender, over 60 printers applied to be on our books, the top six made it through." Fitzgerald commented: "Starting off with good quality and environmentally conscience printers will hold us in good stead as we look for more effective ways of working.
I know we can work together to increase green awareness in the printing community by showing how good a product can be achieved by using environmental best practice.".
