DCP Adds Accushield Lamination From GBC

DCP Systems is announcing the introduction of Accushield from GBC Film, an extremely high performance over-laminating film claimed by GBC to be the alternative to liquid coating.

DCP Systems is announcing the introduction of Accushield from GBC Film, an extremely high performance over-laminating film claimed by GBC to be the alternative to liquid coating.

The new film, for which DCP Systems is a distributor, is now being launched by GBC at Drupa.

Accushield is applied by dry transfer providing fast and easy protection for finishing banners, signs and graphics displays, even canvas artworks without the mess and hassle of liquid coatings, it is claimed.

The film is said to combine the conventional advantages of lamination with the quality of liquid coating.

Accushield laminated media remains flat without curling even after rolling for transportation.

Over-lamination delivers UV resistance as well as water and scratch resistance.

Accushield comes in 965mm, 1397mm and 1550mm wide rolls, 230m long in matt and gloss finishes.

Changeover between finishes merely requires a roll change, said DCP.

Using, for example, the Titan 165 laminator, laminating with Accushield is achieved at 1.5 metres per minute with a heated top roller at 120 degrees C and no heat from the bottom roller.

Accushield comprises an 8um adhesive layer on a 12um polyester carrier.

It is designed for single sided lamination applications.

The film is also said to be compatible with eco-solvent printers for short-term applications.

Application is claimed to be immediate with no drying time required and the self-trimming solution is highly versatile and ideal for short run applications said DPC.
