Dye Sublimation Transfer Press For High Volumes
The Dye Sublimation Division of DCP Systems has announced the UK introduction of the Mutoh Viper dye sublimation transfer press.
The Dye Sublimation Division of DCP Systems has announced the UK introduction of the Mutoh Viper dye sublimation transfer press.
It comes complete with new printed media handling and an optional bulk ink system for volume users.
DCP exclusively distributes Mutoh dye sublimation printers in the UK, together with Klieverik calender heat presses to complete the transfer process.
Viper prints on transfer paper using water-based disperse dye inks.
Newly-developed, patented media handling is said to ensure accurate and sharp and vibrant print for optimal processing subsequently on a calender press.
Transfer, via a heat press, can be on all types of polyester including flag and banner media, and decorative graphics.
DCP's sales director, Darren Walker, commented: "Textile print from Viper is simply superb.
In conjunction with the Klieverik, Viper delivers exceptional quality for literally anything that is durable and has enough polyester in it for the transfer process.
The process prints in to the fibres and can never wash out." Viper's new heavy duty, motorised media unwinding and rewinding system handles rolls up to 100kg, it is claimed.
The roller system is said to keep media straight and true through the press and in rewind after printing.
An extra tensioning tool ensures that the printed media is optimally prepared ready for post-processing on a calendar heat press.
Because of the media path, Viper is also claimed to be able to print on thinner carrier paper, down to 70gsm, making savings on media costs and also making for longer print runs from the roll.
A countdown counter makes for minimum wastage providing accurate measurement of remaining stock on a roll so users know exactly if a roll contains sufficient to complete a print or print run, which is important for the textile industry, added DCP Systems.
Viper comes in 65-inch and 90-inch versions featuring a software controllable pre-heater and dryer, eight piezo-electric, drop on demand inkjet heads housing 360 nozzles per colour providing high volume output at up to a claimed 39.5 square metres per hour.
The integrated double set of print heads, as well as fast output, also makes for double density printing.
The process delivers vibrant colour with especially deep blacks, it is claimed.
For speed intensive volume users, a new bulk ink system is optionally available providing ink autonomy using 4.3 litre capacity ink bottles.
Four and eight bottle versions are available giving further flexibility for doubling up on four colour printing or running up to eight colours on the machine.
T he ink bottles can be refilled during printing.
The bulk ink system requires no extra floor space as it drops in neatly underneath the printer, it is claimed.
System monitoring software, via a PC, makes for ink level monitoring and connection status.
Mutoh's C, M, Y, K, Lc and Lm water based disperse dye inks for the bulk ink system are available in one-litre, 1.5-litre and 25-litre bottles.
In operation, a pre-heating system on Viper heats and expands the transfer media prior to printing with a dryer integrated prior to rewind.
An automatic head cleaning station also features a mirror so operators can visually check underneath the heads.
