Large Format Printers With Spectrophotometer
HP's new Z6100 series inkjet large format printers are now available from DCP Systems, which said that the 42-inch and 60-inch machines have exceptional print speeds, image quality and durability.
The new Z6100 digital inkjet can be seen at the DCP fine art and photographic spring roadshows at Castle Green Hotel, Kendal on June 5, Newbury Racecourse, Berkshire on June 12 and Hamilton Park Racecourse, Scotland on June 19.
The Z6100 series is a replacement for the Designjet 5500 and the new machines, which will have subsequent have PostScript versions, are said to be suitable for display graphics, posters and photographs, as well as GIS, CAD, maps and fine art.
Features of Z6100 include an embedded GretagMacbeth based i1 Colour spectrophotometer and optical media sensor and, in conjunction with HP's Original Vivera pigmented inks, output is said to be accurate and fade resistant, with repetitive colour.
A double swathe ink delivery system with staggered print heads is claimed to provide fast output without sacrificing quality, enabling short turn-around times and handling of peak workloads, with the additional ability to easily accommodate last minute requests and real time changes, added DCP Systems.
The design is said to enable long periods of unattended printing from print media rolls up to 574 feet long and 775ml original HP 91 Vivera ink cartridges.
The eight-colour Vivera inkset produces vivid colour from a claimed wide gamut that includes true neutral grays for image quality and detail.
Prints are also said to be durable and fade resistant, with over one-year for un-laminated display, or three years laminated if in direct sun.
A variety of original HP media is available for Z6100, including photo, matte, banner, fine art, technical and graphic media and films.
Print media capability is up to 430gsm.
Closed loop colour calibration, via the built-in spectrophotometer and HP's Dreamcolor software provide reliable, accurate colour reproduction regardless of fluctuating environmental conditions, said DCP Systems.
New media types are added to the print database with the spectrophotometer guaranteeing colour accuracy and enabling ICC profile creation in a claimed 20 minutes for accurate profiling and printer calibration.
The Z6100 is claimed to provide up to 2,400 dots per inch (dpi) x 1,200dpi optimised resolution for selected photo and HP Premium instant dry gloss photo papers from 200dpi x 1,200dpi input resolution.
From an array of 2112 nozzles in each print head, the print heads are said to provide fine, accurate 4pl droplets for light cyan, light magenta, light green and photo black Vivera inks, with 6pl droplets for cyan, magenta, yellow and medium black Vivera inks.
The inkjet printers can run either the full eight-colour set, or double up on CMYK inks.
Z6100 is said to print at up to 720 feet per hour on coated paper and 252 square feet per hour on glossy paper, achieving best quality results at 147 square feet per hour on coated paper and 98 square feet per hour on glossy paper.
Maximum print speed on plain paper is claimed to be 1,134 square feet per hour.
Z6100 series printers come with an eight colour inkset and two four-colour sets, maintenance cartridge, sample HP heavyweight coated paper, stand, take-up reel, maintenance kit, three-inch spindle adaptor kit, reference guide, set-up poster, start-up DVD, customer service guide and power cable.
Available optional extras include an HP Designjet 42-inch scanner, memory upgrade to 256Mbytes on 42-inch versions, HP's Advanced Profiler, additional spindles for media swapping, user maintenance kit, dual-mode take-up reel for 42-inch versions, media bin for 60-inch versions and USB or HP Jetdirect network systems.
Darren Walker, DCP's sales director, said: "These new printers from HP have been worth the wait, delivering exactly what the industry needs now.
Speed and high quality are the essence of any organisation demanding the best in wide format digital printing and this series of machines takes a quantum leap over its highly reliable forerunner, delivering dependability, even higher reliability and repeatability at even higher speed.".
