DCP Systems Unveils Creative Suite DVD Tutorials
DCP Systems has introduced a new series of informative DVD tutorials by Guy Gowan who provides advice and direction to get the best out of photography using Adobe Creative Suite and Photoshop
"The interface of the advanced software program simply does not teach what is going on behind the scenes", says Guy Gowan, acclaimed Photoshop expert.
"Therefore, because of its complexity and extreme capability, it can be difficult to use and understand, especially for the photographer taking on digital as the new way forward".
The DVDs contain 90 minute tutorials and are ideal for working photographers taking large numbers of images to capture the occasion.
Three DVDs are currently available covering retouching workflow, cosmetic retouching and monochrome.
The tutorials cover the differences in Photoshop channels and enable you to set up a style that you want to work with, doing exactly what you want to do rather than struggling to come to terms with someone else's way of working.
The series also tells you how to shoot your pictures with the Photoshop workflow in mind, so you shoot for purpose rather than shooting in quantity, hoping that you have got it and can correct it.
Topics covered also include batch processing, highlighting, contrast, shadow and, importantly, contrast in shadow in Photoshop and how to set up shots to get exactly what you had in mind using Photoshop as the finishing tool and saving on the number of shots you actually need to take.
"Guy Gowan", says DCP's managing director Mike Hardcastle, "has been at the forefront of image manipulation since the first digital scanning devices emerged and thus his knowledge is matchless".
In the retouching techniques, you simultaneously view Guy and his monitor throughout the seminar style tutorial, learning how to retouch and manipulate images with flexibility, speed and most importantly, quality.
In the cosmetic techniques DVD tutorial, you can learn how to use adjustment layers and calculations, producing alpha channel masks to add shape and proportion to lines and wrinkles, hotspot areas, image lighting, lips, eyes, sharpening, skin smoothing, and adding realistic make-up.
And with the non-destructive nature of this advanced workflow, time can be spent adjusting effects to create a more balanced and convincing final image.
The Guy Gowan DVD tutorials are available from DCP Systems and cost GBP 40 each.
Guy Gowan will be conducting seminars and workshops based on his DVD tutorials at the forthcoming DCP Systems Go Wide photographic/digital printing event which takes place at Tankersley Manor, Sheffield, UK on September 4 and 5, 2007.
He will be providing two free morning seminar sessions and chargeable workshops in the afternoons.
