Digital Dots has launched an independent buyers guide series on JDF, CTP, preflighting, colour management and proofing, and digital printing.

Digital Dots has launched an independent buyers guide series on JDF, CTP, preflighting, colour management and proofing, and digital printing.

The guide is aimed at providing independent and objective information to help those investing in digital production technology to make the right decision.

Digital Dots is a specialist research company and publisher.

It undertakes digital image capture work and it has been involved in extensive projects, specifically for the graphic arts industry, to present the results of tests of virtually all high-end flat bed and drum scanners on the market.

Sponsored by Agfa, Creo, Enfocus, Esko-Graphics, KPG and Dainippon Screen, the buyers guides aim to raise awareness of production technology to help prospective buyers plan their investments into their next generation systems.

Each guide is presented as a series of articles that includes straightforward, in-depth explanations of how the technology works, how it developed and presents a range of relevant applications.

Each one also outlines the market response to products and the acceptance of systems is evaluated, along with the cost benefits and related investment considerations for effective workflow development.

A summary of available technology is provided, including new product highlights for Drupa, along with an overview of the decision criteria to consider, and a directory of suppliers.

Over the next few months, articles from the series will be published online by CIP4, Drupa (www.drupa.de/visit/news_buyers_guide_2).

They will also appear in graphic arts publications worldwide and the complete buyers guides will be available from the sponsors at the show.

Alternatively the guides can be purchased direct from Digital Dots (www.digitaldots.org) at a cost from £15-£25 depending upon the title, with discounts available for bulk orders.
