Delphax Technologies is expanding its high-speed CR Series mono digital web press in to the French printing market.

Following closely on the success of the installation of a CR digital web press at Smith and Ouzmann in the UK, Delphax Technologies is expanding its high-speed CR Series mono digital web press in to the French printing market.

It has done so with the sale of a press to leading French legal publisher Lexisnexis Juris Classeur.

The digital press is for use in the production of the encyclopaedic Juris Classeur legal reference collections.

The Juris Classeur collections comprise some 400 continuously updated loose-leaf volumes covering French case law, statutes, codes and legal commentary.

The Delphax digital duplex press was selected due to its high productivity, speed and economy and its ability to print on lightweight paper, which provided the platform for more economical production than the offset equipment it replaces, especially in short-run production on lightweight papers as involved in the specialised Juris Classeur application, said Delphax.

French printing firms have been among the early adopters of Delphax's CR Series presses.

In addition to Lexis Nexis Juris Classeur, Delphax has installed two CR2000 systems in to Maury for the production of books and journals, which offer claimed printing speeds of up to nearly 2,000 duplex pages per minute.

Delphax believes that is the fastest production speed offered by any roll-fed toner-based duplex digital press.

Delphax said that its penetration of the commercial printing market within Europe and the UK continues to gather pace with installations in France, Holland and Germany.
