The eradication of manual assembly of double-sided print proofs has been promised with the introduction of the new Preproofer 120 system from Digital Information.
It runs on Windows NT, Windows 2000, Linux, Mac OS X and Unix, and offers numerous efficiency and security functions.
It is said to be particularly useful for the production of business stationery, with its repetitive changes, different collage toolsets and multiple, small print runs.
With the system, Digital Information believes ordering, production and administration of business stationary becomes faster, simpler and much more efficient.

The customer edits the PDF file, Remote Publisher reallocates the responsibilities between printer and customer and together and the customer designs his print work in the usual way with the printer in the layout program of his choice.
Using Adobe Acrobat, the printing house then creates a PDF file and, with tools from Acrobat and Remote Publisher, defines the fields (such as surname, first name, function, telephone number,) that the customer can edit.
Remote Publisher manages the finished PDF templates using an integrated SQL database, and places the files on the web server so that the customer can make the required changes.
It is then possible for the customer to request a PDF file via the Internet and, within the scope of the deposited template, carry out the corresponding editing work.
The customer will see that form fields have been defined in the layout and they can be amended using Acrobat Reader.
All inputs are displayed as WYSIWYG and can be sent to any printer for proofing.
On completion, the PDF files are saved by the customer in Remote Publisher ready for further processing, such as imposition or integration into an existing collage toolset, for instance, by the printing house.
Once personalised, templates can be archived and accessed at any time for repeat orders.
Customer authorisation allows the content of product and article orders to be checked by an authorised party before release and submission to the printer to ensure the accuracy of personal details on business cards, for example.
Remote Publisher is said to ensure highly efficient order processing by enabling a messaging system to send finished PDF templates via e-mail for checking by the final print work recipient before release to the printer for production.
For the printer, the option to allocate a price to all recorded articles accelerates the processing of estimates, order confirmation, invoices and delivery notes.
By choosing different lists, both customer and printer could obtain information about the current status of print jobs that is updated every 20 seconds.
If required, unprocessed jobs can be changed or saved at any time by an authorised user.
