Dainippon's New Generation Screening

A Screen Europe product story
Edited by the Printingtalk editorial team Feb 4, 2004

Dainippon Screen has announced a second generation of FM screening called Randot X.

Dainippon Screen has announced a second generation of FM screening called Randot X.

It is based on the Harlequin HDS screening and includes 20u, 15u, 10u screening.

It is said by the company to offer substantial improvements over conventional FM screening by lowering granularity, eliminating moire? and broken lines.

It is also claimed that it produces higher print quality and enhanced print detail by taking advantage of optical dot gain, whilst increasing production efficiency by reducing ink usage by 20 percent.

Randot X, together with Spekta AM and FM hybrid screening and its traditional high frequency AM screening, enables Dainippon Screen to offer a range of screening options.

The company believes Randot X is particularly suited to printers with strict environmental control.

Screen expects Spekta screening will still remain the first choice for most users because of its ability to provide high quality reproduction while being tolerant to environmental conditions to give press operators more control latitude.

Randot X will be incorporated in the Spekta screening package to enable users of the company's thermal platesetters to select from a range of screening options, and have the freedom to select the specific screening application that fits with their environmental conditions and quality standards.
