Colorprint of Dublin has invested in its first computer to plate and digital proofing system in order to cut prepress production times and improve the company's ability to provide a highly competitive, fast turnaround print service The installation of a Dainippon Screen B1, thermal, Screen Platerite 8600 complete with Trueflow front end workflow and an Epson 10600 wide format proofer, all supplied by Andrews Graphics, has brought immediate benefits to the company, it said

A commercial colour print house since 1964, Colorprint has grown to be one of Ireland's leading print firms with in-house prepress and finishing capabilities and export markets in the UK and Holland.

With 40 plus staff and working around the clock, six-days-a-week, it provides a wide range of material including corporate literature, brochures, annual reports, calendars, diaries etc, to blue chip companies, finance and insurances, estate agents and software companies.

Paul Walshe, Colorprint's managing director said: "The installation of the Screen Platerite 8600 has made a huge difference to the production process with the turnaround time on orders being dramatically reduced.

Trueflow automatically pre-flights incoming files and converts them into PDFs for the production workflow.

We proof the imposed and RIP files on the large format digital inkjet printer, prior to delivering to the Platerite for platemaking." The claimed 20-plate per hour speed of the CTP system ensures that the company never has to keep the presses waiting for plates, thereby removing production bottlenecks, he added.

He also said the company has obtained high quality definition in the lower and mid tone areas.

After extensive research into the various CTP solutions currently available, Paul Walshe felt Screen offered the most reliable and fastest product on the market with the PlateRite 8600.

An important aspect was the fact that Ireland's Dainippon Screen supplier, Andrews Graphics, is based locally and could provide back up and support quickly whenever required.
