Dainippon Thermal CTP for Fine Colour Packaging
Nottingham printer and carton manufacturer, Fine Colour Packaging has invested in its first B1 thermal computer-to-plate system with Dainippon Screen's Platerite 8000.
Since its launch in April 2003 the proven 5m-watt violet laser diode Micra has enabled B3 printers to achieve high quality printing at an affordable price using the silver-violet metal plate, said the company.
The new 30m-watt Micra will give printers the ability to choose silver-free photopolymer plates that can be handled in a yellow safelight production environment, claimed the company.
The system has 1,200dpi or 2,400dpi resolution and handles plates ranging in size from 250mm x 330mm (9.8" x 13.0") to a maximum of 516mm x 580mm (20.3" x 22.8") at a stated 23 plates per hour.
Users can choose a manual or fully automatic loading model with an in-line 50-plate autoloader that includes automatic interleaf paper removal.
Its compact size of 1,537mm x 865mm (60.6" x 34.1") means it is suited to the confined spaces at in-plant and quick print operations, for instance.
