Dainippon's new model in the large and multi-format Platerite Ultima CTP series for the large format market will be seen for the first time at Drupa 2004.

The new Platerite Ultima 32000Z heads up the Screen Platerite range of 4, 8, 16, 24 and 32-page thermal CTP systems and is said to be compatible with any workflow system capable of generating 1bit TIFF files.

The new device allows the high-speed output on a range of plate sizes from B2 up to the largest 32-page plates with a minimum size of 650mm x 550mm (25.6" x 21.6") and a maximum of 2,124mm x 1,276mm (83.6" x 50.2").

Imaging resolutions are rated at 1,200dpi, 2,400dpi, 2,438dpi and 2,540 dpi.

Dainippon said the dual imaging architecture ensures maximum flexibility and productivity ideally suited to those printers with large format and multiple-format 4 and 8-page presses.

The Ultima 32000Z continues with twin 512-channel laser diode exposure heads based on GLV (grating light valve) technology.

Thanks to dual plate exposure the system is said to output 46 1,030mm x 800 mm (40.5" x 31.5") plates per hour at 2,400dpi, depending on the media used.

It also has the company's Trueflow workflow front-end within the new JDF-enabled Trueflownet system.

In common with the rest of the Platerite range, optional inline plate punching can be configured as required.

Plates are punched immediately before being mounted on the drum to provide high registration accuracy and enable fast press make-ready.

It can also be fitted with an optional single or multi-cassette plate autoloader.

Each cassette can hold up to 75 large-size plates or 150 eight-page (or smaller) plates, and the multi-cassette autoloader (equipped with 4 cassettes) can expand to hold up to 600 plates for dual exposure.

Those statistics will depend on the thickness of plates.

Deliveries of the first Ultima 32000Zs are expected soon after Drupa.
