London Repro House Buys First Dainippon System
Dainippon Screen has completed the first installation of its Platerite 8100 at newly formed trade repro company, PDF Graphics in London.
Trueflow enables operation via a standard Web browser, allowing it to be operated on any network and on both Mac and Windows platforms - a feature which Concept Design, of Waltham Abbey (UK) has found extremely useful on at least one occasion.
Concept's managing director Rob Stokley said: "One day our plate maker operator was at home due to illness.
Of course, that was the day when I needed a couple of proofs and plates very urgently for a client; luckily, thanks to the Web-based remote operating capabilities of Trueflow, the problem was solved directly from his computer at home." The investment in Dainippon's CTP and workflow means that Concept Print and Display can now control its own reprographics and platemaking in-house and is now producing 2,500 plates per month.

CTP, Workflow And Screening For Hackney Press
London-based Hackney Press has invested in its first fully automated B2 CTP system from Dainippon Screen in a sale supported by UK distributor Service Offset Supplies (SOS) of Loughton.
The company can now oversee quality and achieve cost improvements with more flexibility and the ability to change priorities on jobs if necessary.
"We opted for Dainippon Screen because it seemed to be the easiest equipment to use.
Our supplier, SOS, was very helpful and arranged an excellent demonstration at Dainippon's offices in Milton Keynes.
All the suppliers we looked at showed us the Dainippon system; in fact it's beginning to seem like an industry standard.
We only needed three days of training and the online support function using Webex is very useful," added Stokley.
The Trueflow system can even send a text message to mobile phones to send alerts if problems develop during an overnight run.
Built on the latest PDF core technology from Adobe and integrating Dainippon's own sophisticated prepress workflow technology, Trueflow is claimed to be one of the industry's most advanced PDF workflow systems providing intelligent, open and automated production.
Thanks to its Web browser interface, it is not tied down to specific platforms and hardware.
No special workstations or licenses are required, and the number of front-end users is unlimited.
Its interface is intuitive, based on the actual flow of processing steps.
It allows direct and easy operation, as well as efficient job management.
Job progress can be monitored in real time from any location.
Concept Design has also acquired a new Heidelberg press and now operates two five-colour Heidelberg presses - a GTO52 and a Speedmaster 74.
As well as general commercial printing, the company has a particular financial sector focus, with clients including pension funds and other financial institutions.
