Dainippon Thermal CTP For Imega Print
Imega Print who service design and marketing companies, has bought its first Screen B1 thermal Dainippon Platerite 8000 CTP system with Trueflow workflow software.
"Our decision to upgrade to the latest Trueflow workflow and thermal B2 CTP was driven by the need for greater throughput and greater quality.
We have stepped up from 14 to plates per hour and are achieving 350 lines per inch (lpi) instead of 175lpi.
Previously we had no stochastic capability and now that's no longer a problem," he added.
Abbotts is increasing its throughput by consolidating its presses, replacing four presses with two high-efficiency MAN Roland 300 B2 presses, hence the importance of introducing a CTP and workflow package.
"When it comes to platesetters from the major manufacturers, the underlying technology is nearly always from Screen, so for us the decision was ultimately workflow-driven.
We liked Trueflow because it's browser-based, highly automatic and platform-independent," continued Smith.
Richard Smith also said the company was very interested in Trueflow JDF capabilities as shown at Drupa and he anticipated a move over the next six months to a JDF-based workflow.
"At the moment we have three islands of information with the same information being manipulated by management, pre-press and press departments.
JDF will streamline all that and our experience shows that Screen deliver sound working solutions, rather than racing to market with a quick fix," Smith commented.
With a range of clients in the traditionally demanding automotive and fashion businesses, Abbotts processes 1200-1500 Agfa Thermostar plates per month.
The company has grown from being a general commercial printer to offering full service, including design and web design, as well as a digital print department.
