Following Drupa, the Madrid-based company had already sold seven B2 Platerite thermal platesetters, as well as a number of Trueflow workflow management systems and imagesetters.

Clients include regional government as well as the more traditional four-up general commercial printer market.

Diputacion, the official printing section of the local government of Ciudad Real province, has purchased a Screen Platerite 4100 with Harlequin RIP.

Responsible for printing all the internal bulletins for the community within the capital of Ciudad Real itself, Diputaci¢n also produces a range of periodicals with official information for communities neighbouring Ciudad Real.

Although the department has a fairly low requirement for about 4,000 plates per year, the Platerite 4100 is cost-effective for its current needs and future growth.

The Murcia-based, commercial printer Riande Artes Graficas has just selected a manual Platerite 4100 while Alarcon in Valencia will process its annual 10,000 plates requirement with a new Platerite 4100 and Harlequin RIP.

This printing company specialises in promotional materials for local industries, which produce a variety of consumer goods such as shoes and toys, as well as building materials.

Even higher production rates are catered for by the Platerite 4300 thermal platesetter.

Egea, a medium-size general commercial printer in Seville has installed a Platerite 4300 together with Harlequin RIP to serve its Komori presses which use approximately 20,000 plates per year.

"The flexibility and range of applications achieved by these customers simply confirms the fact that there is no typical B2 CTP purchaser," said Cibergraf's managing director Miguel Cubas.

"Printers can vary from those needing 4,000 plates a year like Diputaci¢n to those like Egea, which consumes 20,000 plates in the same period.

This is why Screen offers models like the Platerite 4100 at 10 plates per hour and the Platerite 4300 at 20 plates per hour.

Both can be supplied with or without automation and - as an option - inline punching which has been specified by the majority of companies," added Cubas.

Three B2 clients have installed a Screen Trueflow workflow management system to maximise the efficiency and productivity of its platesetters.

That confirms that workflow is crucial to this market sector, whereas in the more mature B1 market customers have often adopted a workflow already.

Tecnovic and Filmscan, both in Madrid, have each installed a PlateRite 4100 with Trueflow.

A printing company producing mainly brochures, Tecnovic has two Komori presses with an average annual production of 10,000 plates.

Filmscan, a family business, is a repro-house, which has moved into plate making and now provides a service hub to several small printing firms, which cannot independently afford CTP.

Trueflow is also a feature of the Platerite 4300 investment by Universal in Bilbao.

Universal has two sections.

One handles pure commercial printing with a Heidelberg four-up press, and the other uses two web presses to print forms, requiring over 100 of these small (22" and 26") plates per day.
