Reprograf, Screen's exclusive distributor in Poland, has won a Polish government tender to supply a fully automatic BI Screen PlateRite 8000II CTP system.

Reprograf, Screen's exclusive distributor in Poland, has won a Polish government tender to supply a fully automatic BI Screen Platerite 8000II CTP system to the Warsaw-based Prime Minister Chancellery-Service Centre.

Competing with several other CTP suppliers, Reprograf was awarded the contract because it was the only company able to meet all the tender requirements of price, performance, features and options, cost of maintenance, warranty and overall standard of service and support said Screen.

Equipped with a MAN Cromoman and Heidelberg Harris Mercury web presses, The Prime Minister Chancellery-Service Centre handles a great deal of government print, including legal documents such as legislations and statutes.

Prior to the installation of the Screen Platerite 8000II system, the Centre relied on a film setter, which had served its needs well for several years.

The transition to direct-to-plate production was made to improve both output quality and production reliability as well as meet the Centre's need for higher volumes and faster turnaround.

The system has been installed, staff trained and production starts this month.

Andrzej Lizewski, production manager at The Prime Minister Chancellery-Service Centre, said: "We decided to make this transition to CTP as it offers a fast, high quality service and meets our increasing production needs.

The fact that we can cut plate production time from three hours to 15 minutes is a tremendous benefit.

Other than the fact that the company met all our requirements, we have enjoyed an excellent relationship with Reprograf for some time now and their extensive experience together with good reputation and high level of customer support made the choice easy for us." The Platerite 8000II was installed at the Centre along with Screen's MAL (Multi Auto Loader) option, which provides up to five cassettes online and caters for five different plate sizes, Postscript, PDF and TIFF/IT compatible HQ RIP.

It is claimed to produce over 100 plates in a single eight-hour shift, from B3 to B1 format, without operator attendance if necessary.

Commenting on the win, Jolanta Kurowiak, president of Reprograf, said: "We are very happy to have won this order.

The Platerite's durability and compatibility make it a perfect partner to the Centre's own web presses and will dramatically improve the quality and efficiency of their production facilities.".
