The C2RMF is in charge of the restoration of all artwork in 1,200 museums in France, as well as documenting its research and promoting its body of work.
The Cezanne Elite will be used to rebuild radiographic (x-ray) images of paintings and other artwork, which will eventually be included in Eros, an electronic database containing 150,000 digital images, including 19,000 paintings and 35,000 objects and also produced on CD-ROM.
The database will be available to the public in Japanese at the exhibition in Tokyo in 2005.
The high-density Cezanne Elite and dedicated Colorgenius image processing software will enable the C2RMF to build on existing knowledge of artists' techniques and preservation methods.
To thank Screen for its contribution to technological development in science and art, C2RMF together with Codex Images collaborators on the Georges de La Tour Exhibition, will host a donation ceremony on November 12 at Musée du Louvres.
Raphaël Lévi, sales director of Screen France, said: "We are very happy to donate this scanner to the C2RMF and are pleased to be able to be part of the preservation of our national and international artistic heritage." Jean-Pierre Mohen, C2RMF director added: "We are very grateful to Screen for providing the centre with the Cezanne Elite and Macintosh G5.
This equipment enables us to work much more efficiently to increase the number of digital archives of paintings and object d'arts on the Eros database.".
