Screen Europe has introduced a new multi directional CTP-to-processor bridge that gives Platerite users the ability to combine different plate types processing in a single and production line Compatible with the Screen B1 Platerite 8100, 8000II, 8600 and 8800 systems the new AT-M8001 Bridge is claimed to also allow users to considerably reduce the footprint of a fully automatic Platerite system

The ability to change transport direction enables the AT-M8001 Bridge to deliver plates automatically to a choice of two processors on-line depending upon plate type and according to instructions from the Platerite.

Users can choose from a variety of discharging combinations: straight/right; right/left; or straight/left.

That feature is said by Screen to be suitable for printers who process a variety of plates, for example thermal and processless or dry offset.

The AT-M8001 Bridge is said to also saves printers space and money.

It is suitable for those Platerite users that have limited space in which to site their fully automatic plate production systems.

Now, by using an L-shaped configuration, companies can accommodate a system within a smaller area than previously possible.

In addition, the mechanism introduces the B1 plates to the processor on the 'short edge', which allows the integration of a B2 plate processor.

That way, as well as minimising the overall footprint of the system and increasing processing flexibility, the AT-M8001 saves money by reducing the investment in equipment and continuing with chemicals and maintenance required said Screen.

"We have developed this transport device in response to the industry's need for flexibility both in plate processing and configuration set up.

It's a relatively simple system but brings significant advantages in whichever way it is deployed," said Rob Hageman, Screen Europe's European product manager CTP.
