With the Platetite 8000II, we particularly like the fact that we can use any plates without being tied in to a consumables contract.
Other deciding factors were integrated punching and the simplicity and ease of use of Trueflow 3, in particular the additional Screen page imposition module Flatworker, which we chose to add to the workflow for high-accuracy printing." Suchanek is pleased at his company's investment and the move away from reliance on external plate production and imagesetters: "This is our first independently-owned platesetter and first workflow package and we are looking forward to taking on more customers and more jobs as a result." The Platerite 8000II will produce 13 Agfa plates per hour, to feed a five-colour Heidelberg CD 102, and also a four-colour Heidelberg SM74 SM and a Heidelberg M 600 B24 rotary offset press.
Integraf offers the whole production package, from design to pre-press, printing to finishing and packaging to delivery and prints a variety of work including posters, labels, catalogues, books, magazines, calendars and promotional merchandise.
The family-owned firm employs over 115 full time and about 350 part-time staff and offers a range of finishing techniques including wire binding, bookbinding, pad printing, embossing, blind blocking, hot stamping and letterpress printing.
Its customers are mostly on a national level, including advertising agencies and publishing houses.
Screen said that Trueflow optimises the workflow for CTP, producing digital proofs, digital printing and the distribution of PDF-files for remote proofing and printing.
It features file check, OPI support, trapping and imposition and was developed to drive CTP production.
The latest version can handle PDF 1.4/1.5, enabling users to switch from a PDF and Postscript workflow to a JDF-based workflow.
Trueflow was written in XML and is, therefore, JDF compliant.
The company added that job tickets accompany PDF and Postscript files, automate file checking, colour management, trapping, imposition and output, and Trueflow features a 'late-binding' and a 'very late binding' function, allowing for changes up until the very last moment.
