Claimed fast make-readies and rapid job changeovers are features of the A3 four-colour Truepress 344 digital offset press, which will be demonstrated at DPW '05 by distributor Litho Supplies (stand 340).
A professional production machine that features the latest innovations in printing plates and laser imaging, as well as automation and quality control, the Truepress 344 employs the traditional wet offset process to print on a range of substrates said Screen.
In addition, the first-generation dot ensures that optimal image quality is transferred directly on to the plate.
The digital press uses the latest processless thermal plates, which do not require chemical processing, thus setting new ecological standards for printing technologies, believes Screen.
With a claimed top printing speed of 7,000 sheets per hour (sph), the Truepress 344 will produce a 500-sheet, single-sided job from start to finish in less than 15 minutes, said Screen.
The Truepress 344 utilises a 830nm multi-array laser diode (MALD) to image processless plates at 2,400 dots per inch (dpi) resolution using screen rulings up to 175 lines per inch (lpi).
In addition, using Screen's Spekta screening method, printers can take advantage of the high-quality results produced by AM/FM hybrid screening, added the company.
"The Truepress 344 is a finely tuned and phenomenally productive press.
There is no other digital press that monitors its own ink and water, washes up automatically, loads and images the next set of plates and makes ready in five minutes job to job," said Brian Filler, the managing director of Screen UK.
