With one eye on the future of print, Chichester full-service print production house, RPM Print and Design has just installed a new Screen CTP system.

The installation includes a Screen Platerite 4300 thermal platesetter, Platerite SA-L automatic plate feeding system, a Platerite 4300 AT-T4000 bridging system and Screen's Trueflow 3 JDF workflow software - all supplied by Screen reseller, United Graphics.

Roy Marshall, studio manager at RPM Print and Design, said: "In today's printing industry, it's about always keeping one eye on the future and ensuring you are investing in the right technology to meet market demands.

It's for this reason we offer both litho and digital services to our customers.

Our investment in this new second generation CTP technology, which is serving our five-colour and two-colour Heidelberg Speedmasters, is the next step in our drive to improve consistently our production process and take advantage of the latest developments in printing technology.

We are now right up to the mark in terms of speed and quality across the organisation." He said the new CTP system will enable RPM to not only continue to provide the high level of quality expected by all its clients, but also increase the speed and efficiency of its pre-press division.

"Speed through the production process is crucial if we are to remain competitive, and with the new Screen system, we are able to achieve an increase in speed and an improvement in print quality.

In addition, the Trueflow 3 system is easy to use, has integrated well in to our systems and quite simply, has a number of additional features the other software options we looked at just didn't have," said Marshall.

The company researched the market extensively when the decision was made to upgrade to second generation technology and replace its existing Screen PFR 1050 CTP system.

Marshall added that the company considered a number of the CTP industry leaders and saw some very impressive technology before selecting Screen.

"We decided on Screen because it's about more than just technology.

Screen has always provided us with excellent service and support over the years and this is crucial when running an on-demand production environment.

When you combine this with a great CTP technology, we were left in no doubt that we should go with the Screen again," added Marshall.

Established 35 years ago and employing 40 staff, RPM Print and Design is a full service print and design house serving a range of leading corporates and local customers.
