In just three years, Hexprint of Enfield (UK) has established itself as a multi-media print specialist in the computer games industry.

Now, with the installation of a new Screen Platerite 8000II eight-page platesetter and Trueflow 3 pre-press production workflow software, the company is ready to drive its multi-faceted print offering even further in to the marketplace.

Hexprint managing director, Rob White said: "We are a full-service printhouse offering litho, screen and digital printing as well as pre-press and finishing departments.

We have carved quite a niche for ourselves in specialist multi-media printing for the computer games and POS industries in particular.

"As we all know, there is constant pressure on price and turn-around in the print industry and companies need to refine their technology and workflow processes continually to ensure they offer a competitive service to clients.

A key part of this is maintaining control over as much of the production process as possible.

We were formerly outsourcing all our pre-press work to a repro house, however, the installation of the Platerite 8000II and Trueflow has given us much more control over costs and turn-around, which we can pass on to the customer." White said the company did consider a range of the leading CTP brands when it made the decision to move to CTP.

However, Screen was the only company that came up with a system that was completely suited to the company's specific needs and sensibly priced.

"The processless plate was also a major consideration when we looked to go down the in-house CTP route, as we are also constantly looking for ways to make the printhouse as 'clean' as possible.

Being able to take our CTP needs in-house without bringing in loads of chemicals to process the plates was also a major advantage from our perspective," added White.

And he concluded: "Both the Platerite 8000II and the Trueflow 3 software have integrated easily in to our pre-press department.

The new system has not only enabled us to streamline the operation for existing customers, but has also given us the confidence to explore new markets moving forward, as we now have all the tools we require in-house to offer a fully integrated, cost effective print solution to the market.".
