Ashley's production manager, Roy Fay, said: "The Screen Platerite 2055 Vi platesetter and Trueflow were installed to address the requirements of increasing numbers of our customers who were looking for the quality, flexibility and efficiency provided by a CTP system.
I am pleased to say that since installation, we have already seen a number of improvements in the quality of plates going to press and customers have been very impressed with the quality of the print they are receiving.

First Dainippon Multi-Format CTP At Bemrose Booth
Specialist and secure print services group Bemrose Booth has ordered the UK's first Dainippon Screen Ultima multi-format computer to plate system, as part of its strategy to increase automation.
Another major attraction of the new system is that it consistently produces ultra-clean plates with no spotting and has a long period between cleaning cycles.
All that adds up to a print production cycle that is running much more efficiently." Fay said there is no doubt there is a big learning curve for film-based companies when they move in to CTP and digital workflow.
However, Screen and its north-west of England reseller, SOS NW, have provided the company with post-installation training on the platesetter and the workflow software to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible through this process.
Ashley did consider a number of suppliers when looking to purchase CTP technology, however, it was the company's positive experience with Screen's film image setting that weighed heavily on its final decision.
"We had previously used a Screen imagesetter for some years and it was incredibly reliable," said Fay.
"When you find a good, reliable technology you can trust you tend to stay with it." Although the new platesetter and workflow software is currently producing plates for the company's range of Heidelberg B3 one-colour two-colour and four-colour presses, the investment is the first step in a larger strategic plan for the company.
Explained Fay: "Our investment in the CTP platesetter and Trueflow Rite software is part of our plan to potentially expand our print production offering in to the B2 market.
We are confident that with the transformation our pre-press department has undergone, we are now in a position to begin driving our business into new markets, in the knowledge that we have a strong and efficient technology base from which to do this.".
