Screen's Ipex Deal For Packaging Pre-Press System

Under the agreement Screen will integrate Artpro, Artwork System's packaging software, within its Trueflownet pre-press system to give users packaging production capabilities.

Branded Packstudio SE, the software will be fully integrated in to Trueflownet to give users a cohesive interface and universal access to the widest choice of pre-press production tools available today, claimed Screen.

Trueflownet is a range of interconnected pre-press modules that can be combined to create customised and automated workflows to suit the specific production needs of commercial printing, newspapers, packaging and digital printing, said the company.

In addition to its own technology, Screen said that its philosophy is to integrate complementary third party products to add specific functions for each sector.

Screen added that Artpro is recognised as leading software for the pre-production of packaging materials.

It features dedicated tools for the preparation of graphics for a range of label and packaging production techniques, including litho printing, flexo printing, gravure and silk screen.

Eiji Kakiuchi, corporate officer for Screen, said: "The packaging market has very specific requirements and, by using Artpro pre-press, operators can turn designs in to print-ready files tailored to specific output device requirements instantly.

And he added: "This agreement, alongside the launch of two VLF Platerite Ultima offset platesetters and a digital flexo platesetter at Ipex, strengthens our commitment to providing a complete packaging system.

According to Guido Van der Schueren, chairman of Artwork Systems: "This agreement strengthens our position In Asia and especially in Japan.

It fits perfectly within our strategy to form partnerships, as we recently have done with Punch Graphix and Stork Prints.
