Hertfordshire (UK) printer, Able Spice, has made its first move in to CTP by purchasing Screen's B1 Platerite 8100 platesetter to image processless plates Philip Woodhead, managing director of Able Spice, said: "This is our first move in to CTP and it's going to make a huge difference to how we work

We used to outsource all our plates, now we have total control in-house, which gives our clients far greater flexibility with shorter turn-around times." And Ian Wicks, Able Spice's sales director, added: "We had been considering a move to CTP for some time and felt the time was right once Kodak had introduced its processless plate.

After researching the market, we chose Screen because the company is well known for the reliability and quality of its products." The platesetter and plates are being supplied by Screen distributor, Mayday Graphic Products.

Mayday's Richard Mander commented: "This is a major investment for Able Spice, and our first for processless plates.

The benefits of operating an automated CTP system with processless plates means Able Spice will be able to dramatically increase productivity in the repro department and maximise plate delivery to its presses of up to B1 size.".
