Ifra Sees Thermal Newspaper CTP System
This year Screen makes its debut at Ifra Expo in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) from October 9-12 October.
Jagran Prakashan director Sandeep Gupta, said: "As a result of rapid growth in the Indian newspaper industry over the past few years, we are expanding and upgrading our production facilities to increase efficiency to meet increased demand and improve all round quality.
We publish 28 editions of the Dainik Jagran throughout Northern India and installation of the Screen Platerite News systems will be phased in over 12 months from June, with two Platerite News 2000 devices installed at each of our 11 production sites." The Platerite News 2000 made its worldwide debut at Ipex earlier this year and is Screen's thermal CTP system specifically developed for newspaper applications.
Its productivity, at a claimed 84 broadsheet plates or 42 double-wide plates per hour is suitable for the newspaper industry, where the ability to move quickly through the production processes is critical.
The platesetter features a 64-channel laser diode imaging head and images plates from 290mm x 460mm (11.4" x 18.1") up to a maximum plate size of 980mm x 685mm (38.6" x 26.8").
Tim Taylor, marketing manager at Screen, said: "This significant order confirms that the thermal Platerite News 2000 is absolutely spot on for specific types of newspaper applications.
Our reputation for quality, productivity and reliability gained in the commercial print market is having a considerable impact in the newspaper and packaging markets that we have started to support with dedicated imaging and workflow systems.".
