Dewsbury (UK) based Impress Printers expects to boost its GBP450,000 annual turnover to GBP1million after a re-investment that included the installation of Screen's B2 thermal Platerite CTP system.

Dewsbury (UK) based Impress Printers expects to boost its GBP450,000 annual turnover to GBP1million by the end of the year after a re-investment that included the installation of Screen's B2 thermal Platerite CTP system The Platerite CTP is complete with Trueflow software, and IMpress said that its production is set to more than double over the coming months since the company upgraded its pre-press set-up from a DPX polyester platemaking kit to Screen's B2 thermal option

Impress Printers latest growth venture also includes the purchase of a Komori SPICA 29 press.

Abdullah Yusuf, owner of Impress Printers, said: "The thermal CTP system has greatly improved our pre-press division as a result of the speed and quality it offers.

We were producing around 400 plates per month with our old polyester platemaking outfit but we expect the Screen system to reach around 1,000 when running on a double shift basis." He added: "This means we will no longer have to turn work away - in fact the Screen system is helping us become so efficient we are considering expanding our sales division so that we can be sure to get the maximum output out of our operation." An additional reason for Impress Printers selecting Screen's thermal system is so that the company can start using processless plates.

Yusuf continued: "Although we are not yet imaging processless plates, after looking carefully at the plate technology that is available to us, we expect to become processless in the near future.

We recently saw a demonstration of such a system in action and were extremely impressed with its speed and automation." He explained that the adoption of the Screen system will allow the company to get rid of its existing processor, which is another advantage as it will enable Impress to put another machine in its place.

And Yusuf commented: "We are looking to install a further CTP press line in perhaps the next 18 months.

Until we are able to move to a bigger site, we need to utilise all available space to support this exciting period of growth." Future investment plans for the company promise to build on the present success.

One addition is the installation of an on-line communication facility that will enhance the newly installed Screen Trueflow 3 workflow.

That will enable customers to order and approve work on-line.

Yusuf explained: "We very much see this being an extension of the value-added service we offer our customers.

As well as providing us with a powerful sales tool, the on-line bond with our existing clients will allow us to assess their needs better and provide them with an improved overall service." In addition to the Screen CTP system, Trueflow workflow and Komori SPICA press, Impress Printers also owns six networked Mac systems, two Xerox DC-12 digital presses and finishing equipment from a range of suppliers including Stahl, Morgana and Polar.

Established in 1988, Impress prints leaflets and magazines for companies across the UK and specialises in the printing of wedding stationery.

A family run operation, it employs 10 people.
