Digital Press's UK Debut - British Orders Soon?
Screen's Truepress 344 digital offset press launched at Drupa last May makes it UK commercial debut at Digital Print World, Olympia, London (UK) next month.
First European Digital Offset Presses Installed
Cibergraf has installed the first two Screen Truepress 344 digital offset presses in Europe at Spanish companies Estudios Uriarte and Sprint Digital.
Brian Filler, the managing director of Screen UK, said: "Our theme this year is the 'take 5 challenge' and we want to give printers the opportunity to see for themselves.
The Truepress 344 digital offset press is an ideal choice for any printing company, as well as companies who already own variable data digital presses and want to add lucrative short-run litho quality print to their range of services." He said that there are five key characteristics of the Truepress 344.
They include the claimed five and-a-half minute make-ready, its true litho printing quality, single operator production and the fact that it prints on standard litho substrates, and has an integrated platesetter.
Screen also claimed that fast make-readies, rapid print speeds and lightning job change-overs are the hallmarks of the A3 four-colour Truepress 344 driven by Screen's latest version of its Trueflow workflow system.
The company said that the machine features the latest innovations in printing plates and laser imaging, as well as automation and quality control systems.
The Truepress 344 monitors its own ink and water, fine tunes itself, washes up automatically, loads and images the next set of plates and prints 7,000 sheets per hour, the company claimed.
In addition, the first-generation dot ensures that optimal image quality is transferred directly on to the plate.
The press is said to be capable of producing a 500-sheet, single-sided job from start to finish in less than 15 minutes (with a size range from 9cm x 14cm - 34cm x 47cm).
The digital press uses processless thermal plates, which are said not to require chemical processing, setting new ecological standards for printing.
The machine is also said by Screen to be suitable for printers that want the flexibility to produce smaller-format, economical print runs on a range of substrates, at a quality that compares to offset printing.
