Screen has developed the Truepress Jet650UV and the Truepress Jet2500UV inkjet printing systems to expand the company's business through full-scale entry in to the fast growing print on demand market.

The Truepress Jet650UV has been developed for the industrial printing market, where the business model of incorporating POD systems in to a variety of products during the production process is gaining considerable attention The digital printing of car instrument panels is a one example

The TPJ650UV has customisable features and provides precise, high-resolution, multi-colour imaging that responds to the demands of a large number of industrial users, said Screen.

The Truepress Jet2500UV is claimed to be a versatile, large-format inkjet printing system designed for markets that demand large-size, high-speed printing.

It covers a maximum printing width of 2,500mm and makes it possible to print on a variety of media, including panels and construction materials.

The machine combines the benefits of a flat-bed for printing on to rigid substrates, as well as the flexibility that comes from printing directly on to reels of flexible material (up to 50m long).

It has a maximum production speed of almost 70 square metres per hour and can print up to seven colours including a pre-white function, said Screen.

Like the Truepress Jet520 and Truepress Jet650UV, the Truepress Jet2500UV uses grayscale heads.

The image quality that it brings in combination with the company's knowledge of colour management gained in providing imaging systems to the graphic arts industry will help the Truepress Jet2500UV set new standards in wide format production, claimed Screen.

The Truepress Jet2500UV will be shown as a technology demonstration at FESPA and commercial release is anticipated for the fourth quarter 2007.

A demonstration video of the Truepress Jet2500UV will be shown, as well as samples of output.

Production versions of the machine are already available.

The Media Technology Company division of Screen developed the machines, that are claimed to demonstrate Screen's pedigree.

Following the acquisition of Inca Digital Printers and the launch of the Truepress Jet520 transactional inkjet press at Ipex 2006 the new machines will consolidate Screen's position as a supplier of inkjet production systems, added the company.

Screen commented that the demand for greater flexibility from print providers has increased and print on demand systems that are capable of printing exactly the required number of copies at the required time have grown rapidly as a consequence.

Due to the trend, the digital printing market that makes POD possible continues to expand year by year.

Attention is particularly being focused on inkjet technology because of its flexibility for a wide range of applications, said the company.

Last year Screen developed the Truepress Jet520, an inkjet printing system that is claimed to be capable of printing direct mail, transactional and commercial POD applications.

Screen said it is confident that its new products aimed at the industrial printing market will aid the company in expanding its inkjet technology in to a wider domain.

The company added that it believes inkjet is a key enabler for future success and it is committed to developing further inkjet production systems as a key pillar of business growth for its media technology division.
