OK2Print has replaced its existing conventional platemaking process with a Screen thermal CTP system from distributor SOS; comprising a PlateRite 4100E, stacker and Trueflow workflow

Generating an impressive annual turnover of GBP 400,000 with a team of just four employees, commercial print company OK2Print is wise to the fact that operational efficiency provides the key to success With this in mind, Kevin Newman, owner of OK2Print said: "As a small enterprise, we are always looking for new ways to become more streamlined in order to fully maximise the company's profitability"

"We have become so efficient since installing the CTP system that we are in a position to take on more work and have already won at least five new accounts which we feel is due to a better final printed product".

Able to output B2 plates at a rate of 11 per hour, the PlateRite 4100E has the ability to increase plate output at the Merton based plant by 100 percent.

In addition to increasing output, quality has also been improved due to the fact that the system lasers the image directly onto the plate, thus providing a clean, first generation dot.

OPK2Print has further streamlined its operation by using the PlateRite 4100E to image Fuji's Brillia HD PRO-T processless plates, which saves the company even more time by eliminating the need for chemical processing.

In addition, chemical free platesetting reduces the printer's outlay on both chemicals and machinery and creates a more environmentally friendly workplace.

For companies where space is an issue, processless printers also benefit from the extra space gained in not requiring a processor.

"We have made the most of the space acquired since disposing of our processor, by creating a designated demonstration area so we can show off our processes during customer open days", commented Daren Harris, reprographics manager at OK2Print.

"We have also extended our storage capacity, which has helped further organise our operation".

OK2Print's investment also includes the installation of Screen's Trueflow workflow, which means receiving and processing a range of files such as Quark illustrator and Adobe InDesign is now a simple process.

Harris explained that he quickly and simply changes all files into PDF format for consistent management throughout the entire workflow.

He explained: "Our Trueflow software has totally revolutionised our file management".

"It allows us to set up and store a number of templates whereby we can just drag and drop a PDF file into a 64 page brochure for automatic processing".

"Once laid out, we can clearly view and move between the pages, giving us complete access and control before the RIPing stage".

"Before installing Trueflow, we would have checked the plate for mistakes after it had been processed".

"It is provided us with a far more accurate and professional way of proofing a job".

Established in 1998, OK2Print produces plates for Heidleberg 52 and 72 presses in house and 74's for trade customers.

The company produce mainly full colour commercial work including flyers, brochures and stationery for small to medium privately owned companies operating in the South East.
