Nationwide Print Boosts Service With Screen CTP
Screen thermal CTP platesetter installed at St Austell based Nationwide Print increases plate production by 50 percent
It has also helped the company improve its overall service offering through its ability to produce plates without the use of chemicals.
As a Cornish-based printing company that provides services for environmentally conscientious clients such as The Eden Project and The National Trust; it is imperative the company demonstrates its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint by investing in state-of-the-art technology to cut back on consumables and waste.
Julian Hocking, managing director, says: "Our customer network is spread right across the UK and no matter where businesses are based every company is concerned about sustainability and reducing emissions.
However, it is even more prominently felt in the South-West.
As a county Cornwall aspires to lead by example when it comes to helping save the planet and this feeling is shared by the businesses and companies who operate within it.
"As well as consistently outputting plates with a dot sharpness and registration accuracy that enable superior process control and fast make-ready times, our new processless set-up proves we are dedicated to building our business in an ethical way as we are operating a much cleaner and efficient operation since we had it installed".
The PlateRite 4300E at Nationwide Print has been installed along with a SAL 4100 auto plateloader, stacker and Screen Trueflow software.
The auto plateloader and stacker are proving to be a real production booster for Nationwide Print as the company has taken to running the system unmanned to process 50 or so plates at the end of each day.
The PlateRite 4300E is also saving Nationwide Print money by reducing the amount of man hours needed to clean the system.
Around two days of an employees time per month are being saved due to the fact the Screen system requires such little maintaining.
As Mr Hocking explains, this is not the only area where PlateRite 4300E is helping the company cut back on costs: "The extra consumables and chemistry required for our old system; in addition to paying out for waste disposal and extra maintenance; added about 30 percent to the price of our violet plates so even though the plates were cheaper, it was a bit of a false economy.
We don't have to factor in any additional revenue on top of the cost of the processless plates and we are making significant financial savings in addition to the extra revenue we are receiving through our increased production".
Nationwide Print is a small to medium sized commercial printers that prints a range of business applications from business stationery to annual reports and corporate brochures.
The company has even been involved in the production of business stationery for a Royal wedding.
As a litho printing company, the company owns four Heidelberg presses as well as a complete suite of finishing equipment.
The company was established in 1959 and employs 15 people.
