UV Combination Inkjet Press Move For Wide Format

The Truepress Jet2500UV combination flatbed and roll-to-roll inkjet printer is set to make its UK debut at the Sign and Digital UK 2008 exhibition.

The new machine represents Screen's first step in to the UK wide-format printing market.

Screen, on stand C22 at the show, which will run from April 22 - 24, claimed that the Truepress Jet2500UV features grayscale printheads that enables quality printing on rigid and flexible substrates and provides a balance between high print quality and productivity that means it can be used for various applications.

As well as its flexibility of format, changing from flatbed to roll, there is flexibility of resolution and speed, added Screen.

The Truepress Jet2500UV can select five different resolutions from 300 dots per inch (dpi), 600dpi, 900dpi, 1,200dpi and 1,500dpi, so customers can select the best resolution depending on the productivity and the quality required.

The machine is also claimed to combine the benefits of a flat-bed for printing on to rigid substrates, as well as the flexibility that comes from printing directly on to reels of flexible material (up to 50 metres long).

It has a maximum production speed of almost 70 square metres per hour and can print up to seven colours, including a pre-white function, added the company.

Brian Filler, the managing director of Screen UK, commented: "We have over 50 years' experience of screening, dot formation and colour management and these are central to the products we are bringing to the display printing industry.

We have built considerable expertise in digital print technology over the last 20 years, which was further strengthened by our acquisition of Inca Digital in 2005." He explained: "Although the Truepress Jet 2500UV is the first of our large format systems developed for the wide format market, the printer is the result of considerable research and development.

The digital wide format market is competitive but I feel the Truepress Jet2500UV brings a new level of flexibility, quality and productivity that makes it stand head and shoulders above the rest.".
