Flatbed Inkjet Printer Opens POS Market For Firm

In looking to expand its print services with a system to produce POS material for retail customers, Lexon Group bought what is claimed will be the first Screen Truepress Jet2500UV in the UK.

The Newport (Wales) form, agreed to buy the Truepress Jet2500UV whilst at Drupa 2008.

Lexon Group said it is increasing its range of services, which already includes offset, digital and screenprinting production options.

The Truepress Jet2500UV is claimed to be a versatile, hybrid roll-fed and flatbed inkjet system featuring grayscale printheads.

Screen said that the system can print at a variety of resolutions, producing 70 square metres per hour at 300 dots per inch (dpi) and photographic quality detail at 1,500dpi.

Screen commented that the versatility of the Truepress Jet2500UV is appropriate for POS work.

Its flatbed capabilities allow printing on substrates up to 2,500mm wide and up to 50mm thick.

Printing directly from reels of flexible material, a length of 50m can be achieved.

The company added that up to seven colours are available, including options for white ink, light cyan and light magenta.

The UV-curable inks make it possible to print on a variety of substrates with consistent colour and quality.

With factories in Newport and on the Isle of Man and offices in Sunderland, Exeter, Swansea and London, Lexon Group said it has grown and is set for further expansion.

Its POS department incorporates facilities ranging from design through to finished production.

Benn Davis, the sales director of Lexon Group, said: "We have full offset, digital and screen facilities and we needed a system that was capable of producing top quality POS material for our high-end clients, such as Christian Dior.

We evaluated many systems, but it was the quality of the Truepress Jet2500UV that clinched the deal." He added: "We are expanding our POS division and the Truepress Jet2500UV will start production in August, which will open up new avenues for us in the retail sector.".
