Beshara Press, the niche printing company for the software publishing industry, has invested in a Domino A400 to produce unique numbers on the back cover of manuals.

Beshara Press, the niche printing company for the software publishing industry, has invested in a Domino A400 to produce unique numbers on the back cover of manuals The company, which employs 120 people at two sites in Tewkesbury and Nottingham (UK), made the decision to incorporate an A400 on its binding line to meet the recently changing demands and very tight lead times in the software industry

On software CDs a unique identifying number for registering the software or help line support is printed on all products prior to assembly into the cases.

DVDs, now growing in popularity, also require a unique number to be printed on the reverse of accompanying manuals.

John Horrocks, managing director of Beshara Press said: "To meet the changing demands of the software games industry and the growing market in DVDs, we needed to invest in new technology which would enable us to produce quality numbering in the very tight timescales set." The Domino A400 can print high quality, unique readable numbers on between 5,000-8,000 copies per hour on the fly and is also very easy to operate, he added.

Domino's A400 is from the A-Series CP range of printers which are specifically designed to meet stringent product specifications requested by the commercial printing markets, where reliability, greater flexibility, high quality and high speed print capability are important, said the company.

Coupled with easy integration into existing production equipment, the Domino A400 has the added versatility of being stacked up to three units high to provide multiple print heads up to a maximum of 24.

"This is our first piece of Domino equipment and the company helped to make the installation process smooth, with excellent technical support throughout," commented Horrocks.

Beshara Press, which was established in 1979, has specialised in printing for the IT industry since the mid-1980s.

Its UK-wide customers include games and business software publishers and software packers, as well as a number of non-IT businesses such as retailers and stationers.

The company also produces other packaging including sleeves and cartons.
